This in interesting. Yuma is a huge agricultural area. They have fresh fruits and vegatables all along the roadside for sale. Anyway they have buses that carry the workers to the fields to pick the produce and on the back of the buses are portta potties. You see these buses everywhere dragging along their porta potties where ever they go. I thought it was kind of funny.
We went to Yuma Marine Corp Air Station and watched a Silent Drill Team exercise. It was pretty cool. The Marines marched and threw their rifles back and forth to each other without anyone calling out orders. It was all done in perfect unison. Then the Marine Corp band played. All the soldiers stood at attention for the flag. It was impressive. It makes you proud of the military.
In Laughlin we noticed lots of people dry camping. You pay 5 dollars per night, no hook ups but a nice view of the Colorado River and can stay for 14 days. Not a bad way to travel cheep. You can to down to the hotel and fill up your water and dump for free. Lots of people do it though.
We went to the Mexico border yesterday. It is about 20miles from here. We could not go into Mexico because we did not have our papers with us but we did get to see the fence that Bush wanted built. Bush gave the border patrol 3 billion dollars to build the fence from Calif. to Texas. The Border Patrol says that since the fence has been up they gone from arresting 75-80 illegals a day to less than 10 a day. One spot on the border was seeing as many as 800 people crossing in from Mexico in a day and now they don't see hardly any. In addition to the fence they have cameras along the border. The border patrol is pretty heavy in this area. We stopped for a DQ blizzard and saw about 6 border patrol trucks pass us by in about 15 minutes. They also use helicopters to patrol. But even though the fence is working the Democrats don't like it and have cut off funding. So who knows if it will be finished.
